Reflection on Pictorial exercise

Today, in my Language Arts class, our teacher conducted a very interesting lesson-a pictorial exercise. Curious? Let me tell you more about it. Our teacher, two days before the exercise, wanted us to go home and take a simple test which tells you what is your preferred learning style. It was quite interesting. Here, have a look at mine......
As you can see, my top three learning styles are Interpersonal, Intrapersonal and Logical. On the exercise day itself I was grouped into the Interpersonal team. In overall the exercise was extremely team work required and fun. However our group managed to complete the exercise fast. The exercise is matching lots of pictures in a sequence that will tell a story. I think that this exercise had helped me develop more on my visual skills and team work skills. It is a very useful exercise for anyone who wants to boost their visualisation skills. In think that our LA teacher made a good choice about letting us do this exercise. In the future, I hope that more pictorial exercises would be executed on us so that we can enhance our visual skills and thinking skills. I also learned that stories can be told not only through narratives or texts but through graphics only. In fact, I find that graphics books are more interesting to read and look at as I can get both visual information and the plot of the story itself.

Why did I do it?

I did not see this coming. All this is so unfair! However, after thinking thorugh the actions I have taken regarding the small "patriotism matter", I realised that I have brought this all upon myself. Why did I do it? WHY DID I DO IT!?

This new "Washington Academy" really stinks like my Grandmother's smelly laundry. There is no track, the sport which I love the most, and they even tried to please me by making me try out for the soccer team!, the sport I hate the most! As if I will fall for their "little trick"......

There is no such rule that prohibits students from singing the "Star Spangled Banner" and in fact I found that I was not really being patriotic by humming the anthem but just trying to create trouble and sabotage Miss Narwin. I do not even know the lyrics of my own country's anthem and I was in the center of the patriotic discussion. This morning, my homeroom teacher asked me to lead the school in singing the "Star Spangled Banner". I replied by muttering that I do not know the words. As a result, I was laughed at and even mistrusted by my homeroom teacher. I wish I could turn time back. If only I had just kept my mouth shut and respected the school rule and studied hard, I would not have gotten into this mess.
Why did I do it? I really wish I had a 'Time Machine' then I could go back in time and turn everything back to how they were......

My reading habits

Do you have any favourite authors and reading habits? Well I do. Now, let me evaluate more on that fact. I believe that reading is a way of learning too, like studying as by reading we can harvest all kinds of information and knowledge from reading. Therefore, it is important to inculcate a good reading habit at a young age, like now.(13 years old^-^')For me, probably like other pre-teens, I like to "run along with characters of the future","flying with dragons" sort of like all the fantasy stuff. However, occasionally, I do enjoy some romance sometimes.(very little!) Examples of books which I have read and think are the best books I have ever read are: The Artemis Fowl series, the Eragon trilogy,Harry Potter, and the Twilight quadrilogy which are all character-driven stories.Hence, I prefer to read character-driven stories.I usually read when I have finished all my homework and have spare time left. One of my favourite authors is Eoin Colfer. He has produced all kinds of masterpieces like "Supernaturalists", "Artemis Fowl" and other spectacular novels. These are my reading habits and favourite books/authors. I hope this blog entry has inspired you to start reading and inculcate a good reading habit, it is always not too late to make a differnce in your life!

The New watch

Yay!!! I finally got a new watch! The watch was from my aunt. I am so grateful to her!

On Friday morning, my mother announced with a sudden thrill of exitement that we were going to eat lunch with her at Singapore Island Country Club. At there I also met my cousin and his Grandmother.

My aunt, upon seeing me, hugged me with delight as we had not seen her for nearly 2 years due to PSLE preparation. While we were having a sumptious lunch at a restaurant named"The Ornamental Place", my aunt suddenly announced" Oh ya, I forgot. Here's your congratulations gift from me for your PSLE! ".

She gave me a little box with an imprint"Casio". At first I thought it was a lame watch but right after the moment I opened the box, I saw "it".

It was a silver-black glossy watch with a sense of wonderous beauty. It was Casio New digital watch! I jumped with joy upon the sight of my "treasure". I immediately thanked my aunt profusely and shook her hand until she had to say stop.

Well, here's a picture of my new watch just in case you are curious. Go ahead and make your day!

A creepy encounter......

Have any of you had an creepy encounter near Bishan recently? Well I have. Now, I will tell you more about my encounter......

On Thursday, I boarded the bus 156 near Bukit Timah to go to Bishan. Halfway during the trip, a stocky man with a short spiky hairstyle boarded the then crowded bus. He also wore a pair of spectacles with black attachable strings on each side. Nothing's scary about him---------yet.

At first he seemed quite normal BUT the scary part was that when he was standing among the commuters, he poked his head sideways from the crowd to look at me......and smiled pervertedly.

Arghh!!! Why is that stranger staring at me! I thought. I mean, who would not feel uncomfortable when a stranger smiles at you like you are a million-dollar-prize? To counter his sudden "attacks", I glared at him as hard as I could. In a moment, the man looked away.

When it was time for me to alight the bus, I got up from my seat and walked to the exit. But to my dismay, the strange man was standing in front of the exit. He noticed I was there and suddenly took out a handphone and played a traditional music. I wondered why he did that. Then, when the door opened with a beep, the man suddenly blocked me from alighting by extending one arm towards the pole on my other side. I was afraid but I eventually managed to "escape" by going under his arm. He looked quite disappointed when I was able to alight.

As the bus that just dropped me off drove away, I wondered who was that stranger but I could not recognize that man. I decided to just put that matter aside and concentrate on my studies.

CCA allocation results!!!

Hooray! I got into my first choice EP3! I am so exited! Oh sorry, I forgot to tell you what EP3 I got into. It is softball! Oh man, I am so exited! In my class, most people got into their first choice EP3 but some unfortunate people did not get so lucky.
Anyway, the reason I like softball/baseball so much is that one, during the softball trials, the softball coach said that I have potential after I bet two balls. Two, I like hitting sports and in softball, I get to hit a fast coming ball. Three, it trains my whole body and also relieve me from stress.
The very next day, after the day we got our allocation results, we were supposed to report to our allocated EP3s so after school and lunch, I changed into my PE shirt and went to the softball grounds.
At there, was already many people about 10 t0 15 waiting impatiently for the coach to arrive. After a few minutes, he came. First he asked us to sit down and introduce ourselves so we briefly introducedf ourselves and sat down. He spoke to us a lot about rules and training regulations and other impotranat stuff. In overball, those "boring sounding" stuff were actually fun to hear! I guess my interest in that sport altered my usual impatient-with-boring-stuff attitude.
After the introduction, we went out to the field to practice pitching. At first I was not good at it but gradually I began to catch up and the seniors pitching with me even said that I was good! Now that's what I call joy. Unfortunately it rained before we were finished so we had to go home early with reluctant minds.
I hope that more good news would befall upon me in the coming days.
